What' Next in Biotech List 2024

Leaps.org and The Aspen Institute Science & Society Program are excited to announce the 2024 What’s Next List in Biotech to identify and celebrate the most important advances of 2023. The What’s Next List (WNL) will highlight innovations in the three areas: 1) Biotech for Sustainability, 2) Biotech for Agriculture, and 3) Biotech for Health & Medicine. We are seeking innovations that address critical challenges and serve as important leaps for humankind.

We invite the public as well as individuals, teams, and organizations (public, private, nonprofit) to submit applications for WNL 2024. Leaps and Aspen are forming a panel of leaders and innovators in biotech to help select the 12 most noteworthy innovations of 2023. A dynamic digital magazine and Innovation Summit in Spring 2024 will announce and showcase the selected innovations to the public. The magazine and summit event will feature the scientists and entrepreneurs who are leading these efforts plus additional experts in industry, academia, and government.

The Aspen Institute launched the Science & Society Program in 2019 to serve as a laboratory to test ideas and approaches that help explain, connect, and maximize the benefits of science for public good.

The primary audiences for our work are community leaders, science communicators, current and future scientists, and the general public. We leverage the established assets, networks, and platforms of the Aspen Institute to convene and mobilize these groups to build bridges between them.

Leaps.org is an online media platform dedicated to raising awareness about humanity’s greatest challenges and scientific advances. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is an American non-profit medical research organization that provides funding for biomedical research, STEM education, and areas of career development for scientists. Since 1970, it has been headquartered in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park.
